![]() Pioneering projects such as ELYgator and CurtHyl contribute to the national and European climate ambitions as hydrogen will play a key role in decarbonization, particularly for hard-to-abate industry and mobility sectors. Those two world scale electrolyzers will be integrated into the existing Air Liquide portfolio of assets and enable the supply of low-carbon hydrogen to multiple customers of the industry and the mobility markets. The CurtHyl project will be located at the Maasvlakte 2 conversion park in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The ELYgator project will be located in Terneuzen, the Netherlands. Compared to a traditional process, this will avoid the emission of more than 5 million tonnes of CO2 over the period of operation. The two projects will produce a total of around 30,000 tonnes of renewable hydrogen per year without generating any CO2 emissions. These electrolyzer projects, which will each have a capacity of 200 MW, will significantly contribute to the decarbonization of the Dutch and neighboring countries’ industry and support the growth of clean mobility markets.īoth electrolyzers will run on renewable electricity. In cylinders of various sizes, in bundles, in liquid form, or On-Site generated, Nitrogen is available in all supply methods to suit your uses and consumption profile.Air Liquide welcomes the Dutch State decision to support its large-scale renewable hydrogen projects, named ELYgator and CurtHyl, through the Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI) Hy2Use program. ![]() ![]() Nitrogen is used for heat treatment and laser cutting (See our range for Laser processes LASAL ™ ). In liquid form, it can also be used for rapid cooling, preservation and transport of tissues and cells (Cryogenics). It is also a balance gas for the calibration of gas mixtures intended for the control of gaseous emissions and working environment sensors. Nitrogen is also a carrier gas for gas chromatography and quality control (See our ALPHAGAZ ™ range). Nitrogen is used for purging, drying or inerting analyzers or chemical reactors. (See our ALPHAGAZ ™ range of analysis gases) Nitrogen is used as a carrier gas for protection against impurities and oxidation during semiconductor production and soldering. Nitrogen allows the inerting of the atmosphere in order to avoid any oxidation phenomenon during the wave soldering or reflow soldering process. evacuation of oxygen and moisture present in tanks and pipelines). It is also used in several processes in refineries and petrochemical sites: inerting, drying, purging, stirring, etc. Used as a protective atmosphere, it helps to protect the quality of products and installations. Nitrogen is used directly in chemical processes as a carrier gas or fluidizing agent, or for temperature control and catalyst preparation. Nitrogen preserves and protects liquid and solid foodstuffs against oxidation, and solid foodstuffs thanks to packaging under protective atmosphere (MAP) (See our range of food gases ALIGAL™). It allows the control of temperatures during transport and distribution (maintaining the cold chain). Nitrogen is used to chill and freeze foodstuffs or to control their temperature (deep-freezing, crusting. Mixed with hydrogen (H₂), it is used for leak detection. Nitrogen-filled tires also have a longer service life. Nitrogen is used in the production of automotive parts using the gas-assisted injection molding process. ![]() In the gaseous state, it is neutral, colorless, and non-flammable. It is also found in the form of nitrates in the earth's crust, in organic form (plants.) or in ammonia in mineral form.Īir Liquide filters and purifies Nitrogen from the atmosphere and supplies it in liquid or gaseous form. Nitrogen (Chemical Formula N₂) is an inert gas.Īs a major component of the atmosphere, it represents 78% of the air we breathe. General Informations about Nitrogen ( N₂ ) :
